Behind the Camera

Hi there! I’m Carrie - a photographer working in Richmond, Virginia, specializing in portraits and events. I typically aim for candid, photojournalistic styles of photography, but recently I’ve loved experimenting with posed shots as well. I’m artistically inspired by movement, color, and high energy. My work is rooted in these inspirations, and y0u’ll often find me putting motion and lighting to the test during our shoot. I love to work with my environment, rather than against in. FAQS

  • Most client-favorited images come from the moments that one doesn't even expect to be captured. Tears shed from the brother of the bride or your toddler reaching to press the buttons on my camera are some of the raw and authentic moments we want to keep raw and authentic. Therefore, my edits will maintain the integrity of the original photos, while only adjusting the lighting or colors to reflect the style we're aiming for.

    However, if you're looking for some minor touch ups on an imperfection, just give me a heads up before the shoot and we will address it.

  • However long it takes for us to feel that we got what we need! Oftentimes as we're working together, you'll feel more comfortable in front of the camera as we go. Therefore for portraits, there are no additional charges if one hour turns into two.

    For events, including parties or weddings, we will work out the details ahead of time.

  • After we've parted ways following your photoshoot, only about 10% of the work is done. Editing is a massive part of the whole package that you are signing up for, and it takes time to deliver the best final images. When you credit me on social media for your photos, you're crediting not only the photo, but the editing style that comes with it. It's important to me that the photos of mine that are floating around on the internet are 100% my work.

    As for your instagram feed... Send your theme my way and we'll work something out.

  • Your wish is granted! Any edits that you want touched up - send them my way. Whether it's a day after you've received your portfolio, or six months after! I keep the raw files backed up for one whole year after a shoot. Take advantage of it!

  • Your photos will be delivered to you in a private online portfolio. You can invite those who you want to see them, and everyone can save their favorites on their own device. This gives you the creative freedom to frame your favorites!

    After receiving your own portfolio, my favorites will be posted right here! Keep an eye out for your highlight!

  • My contract for events and weddings includes a model release form, giving Carrie A Camera Photography the irrevocable right to use my photographs in all forms and manners, such as posting here on my website for advertisement purposes. But don't worry about the legal jargon: if you don't want a specific photo posted, such as photos including children, just give me a heads up either during our shoot or when you receive your personal portfolio.
